Spring Fitness Challenge


Hey all! So this is nothing new, people are doing this all over the place, so Kadie and I figgered "WHY NOT?!" The more people who play along, the bigger the prize - so tell all of your friends to get over here and have some good, clean, healthy FUN! You've got nothing to loose except jiggles!

{{Honestly...I deeply, deeply apologize, but the thought of another apron swap is staggering to me so this is my alternative answer to the apron swap requests - maybe in the Fall?}}

So you wanna look HOT just in time for summer and win some cash?!

So here's the nutshell -

*You and a hot pair of sweat pants
*Anybody can join - boys and girls alike
*$10.00 per person to play
*8 weeks
*Weight loss challenge-lose as much as you can in 8 weeks (see rules)
*Jackpot cash prize - winner takes all

(there's nothing like a crappy economy to inspire some weight loss, eh?!)

OFFICIAL RULES: (may be changed or altered to best fit the needs and demands of anybody smarter than I am...or anybody really mean because the mafia scares me.)

SIGN-UP: March 23rd - March 30th
CHALLENGE BEGINS: MONDAY, MARCH 30TH - MONDAY, JUNE 1ST


* YOU CAN'T BE A SKINNY CHICK or DUDE. Sorry. You need to have a minimum of 10-15 pounds to lose. In case you're completely clueless and don't know if you've got extra baggage, here is a site where you can configure your height/weight ratio to see if you can play along. (for the rest of us, the rolls and jiggles pretty much confirm our qualifications...) Oh yeah, and you can't be preggers, either. How 'convenient' if you were to go into labor during our little game here.

* You MUST email me your:
name
mailing address
email address
beginning weight AND height
"before" photo

NOBODY will see this info except me and, frankly, NOBODY CARES. It's necessary for me to determine the winner and if you've legitimately lost weight.

You'll also have to track your weekly weigh-ins on your own - details on that below.

* Winner will be determined by percentage weight loss. This makes it fair for EVERYONE and you can have a shot at winning over your husband who can loose pounds just by walking to the mailbox.

* You MUST play fair - no pill-popping, liposuction, starving yourself, false impersonation of a supermodel, cleanse rituals, voodoo, photo editing your face on Heidi Klum's body, or unhealthy dieting thing. You're on your honor here - ONLY HEALTHY DIET AND EXERCISE methods allowed! If you're unsure of what that is, check this website here for a start. (they're my fave!) The key here is HEALTHY.

* You MUST pay your entry fee before your name is on the list. No cheaties! 100% of the entry fee will go to the jackpot - so work hard if you want some money! I have set up a separate Paypal account just for this competition - I'm NOT going to steal your money - it's all there waiting for you! If I get tons and tons of people, I'll break the jackpot up into groups so there's more of a chance to win.

* You MUST use the same scale to weigh yourself each week - EVERY MONDAY. If you're fully dressed on your initial weigh-in, you must be fully dressed during all of your weigh-ins. (no suddenly gettin' nakey for the final weigh-in!) You're on your own to track your weekly progress because (I'm assuming) you're a grown-up and are capable of doing that, which leads me to the final rule:

* You MUST track your weight loss and fitness progress. If you want to win the jackpot, I need to see a WEEKLY LOG! Grab a pen and paper and get goin'! I cannot allow you to win the jackpot without your log - VERY, VERY IMPORTANT.

Sign me up!! BUT...I had already decided a couple days ago, I was starting on Monday the 23 eating healthy and exercising.

haha! Melly - what I'd give to be to skinny to play! Good for you, though - that's awesome!

To those of you who have already started a weight loss thing, I have, too - it just means that we have to work that much harder and we'll loose more weight in the long run. You can start today if you want, but the weigh-in won't count until next week.

Darn you Abby and your goal setting. I have been perfectly content, PRETENDING I am dieting/working out and then complaining when there are no results because, well I am just not motivated. I am SO in on this. Thanks I REALLY need not only the motivation, but the accountability! Plus, I really need to stop wearing maternity clothes before my baby starts walking. Count me in.

Oh, here's a very helpful hint, it took me a year to learn that all those fitness DVD's I bought weren't going to work if I watched them. I actually had to DO THEM!!!.........who knew???

Abby, Count me in. I already have lost 45 lbs since having my last child, but I could lose another 20 to reach my goal weight. I will be sending you a photo & the money, Just try not to barf!

What a fantastic idea! (You must have read the recent University of Pennsylvania study that showed money can definitely be a motivator in weight loss.) I am so IN! I will email soon with all the pertinent info. A group at my work is entering a walking contest so between the two hopefully I will loose at least a few pounds!

I'm in too! According to the website I can lose 15 lbs. YEAH!!! For those of us that meet once a month for lunch I think that we should be required to bring healthy food. No more brownies, I'll cave.

I would love to join but really don't want to set up a paypal account just for this because I wouldn't use it for anything else...if there could be another way?? Oh man. Im reeaaalllllly tempted on this one. Now, to keep things fair...

Could you show a progress like every tuesday of how everyone's doing? maybe with just our initials or something to keep it semi-anonymous if people are worried about that? That way everybody can see each other's progress...

I so want to do this, but I'm going to be on the road a lot during this time and will not be able to use the same dang scale . . . and, I'm not going to pack it with me on our so-called vacation!! If you end up doing this again, I'm totally in!!! I still have quite a few pounds to lose these days and need much more of a motivator than I currently have!! Good luck to all the participants though!

I'm in, and watch out, because i've very competitive!!! :) I totally need this right now. I've lost 50 lbs, but need at least another 20, and have been stagnant for about 6 months at least!!! So, this will be great!!! I'll be sending you an email with before picture, etc.

I would totally join this, but I am having surgery on the 7th and am going to be down for at least 6 of the 8 weeks.

Maybe during to summer/fall you could do this again. I'll be ready for it.
