...Still Remembering...

MY GOODNESS - feelin' so nostalgic!!  What's wrong with me?!  (darn website!)  I think it's partly because there is so much turmoil in the world right now, and because my kids are at the age that I was during the 80's & 90's, that I'm being drawn into this old world of mine that no longer exists.  We really had the best of everything - Gremlins, E.T., the catalogs we would scour before Christmas, and a much simpler world around us.  I would hop on my bike and drive all over town to play with a friend without a second thought from my mom.  Nowadays, I'm too freaked out to let my kids ride through the neighborhood on account of the seemingly normal-looking perverts out there waiting to prey upon a vulnerable, alone child.  Is it worse now or were we less worried back then?  Life was so magical as a kid.

Anyway--step back in time with me for a minute and let's remember some of the good stuff!!! {heaven knows there's a lot more out there than this}

Check out these old commercials!!  awww--takes me back!  Why didn't my mom do my hair cute like the little girls in the commercials?!  Oh, yeah, I wouldn't let her touch my hair.  What was I thinking?!

How fun was that?!  What were your favorite toys growing up?! You know you're feeling nostalgia--don't fight it!!

Now back to work for me.

That's hilarious because I've been so sad lately looking for toys for my girls and the toys nowadays are horrible! I still have some of my toys--mainly the Maple Town critters and house. Man, you brought back all these memories...do you remember Popples?

I loved this post. Totally took me down memory lane. I had forgotten about a lot of those things. But like you I had a ton of those mini pianos and I too didn't like those mickey pops. Too much fun. Weren't the 80's the best:)

Ah memories! I loved the mini pianos. I wish I could find them for my kids. The lip gloss in tin can things were my other favorite. There are a lot of others that have already made a come back...Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Bright, Care Bears, Cabbage Patch dolls... So much fun. Maybe someday we can have a collection of mini pianos again.

So fun!! I totally forgot about those mini pianos. My favorite was Rainbow Brite and I'm proud to say my 3 yr old loves her! I still my my sheet set. :) I also loved Popples, slap bracelets, my Jem doll, Corn Silk dolls, getting prizes in cereal boxes. We had it so good!

I loved this post! You brought back so many great memories. I loved the 80's! I have actually made the ribbon barrettes for my daughter. She loves them and wants me to make them for all her friends.

What!? No Cabbage Patch doll? You must not have had one. If you had been the lucky recipient, your mother would never have let you forget what she went through to get one for you.
I descended into wickedness for the sake of my two daughters. I allowed a friend (who worked in Walmart) to hide Zara Lulu and Evangeline on some rarely shopped shelf in the store. And I confess; I would do it again to see their faces that Christmas moring.

For some strange twisted reason I really liked Garbage Pail Kids. They appealed to my creative and slightly off color side.

We've recently introduced our kids to MacGuyver via Netflix On Demand. It has been awesome watching those again.

P.S. I'm sending you an e-mail with pics of a Halloween project inspired by you.

Oh I love your post. I too wish I could go back to the innocence of childhood. Do you remember Saturday morning cartoons? What happened to them? My favorite toy from childhood was definitly Strawberry Shortcake. I have a small collection of SSC stuff and am avidly looking for more. I also loved Charmkins, Shirt tails, The Get Along Gang, and Care Bears. Oh to be back in the 80s :)

I still have my charm necklace! It has at least 100 charms on it. I would get one everytime we went to the gas station - ha. Of all the things for my mom to keep from my childhood I don't know why she chose that, but now my daughter plays with it. Cracks me up when she come jingling around the corner!

I recently came across 3 of those Mr Sketch markers at my mom's house and guess what? They STILL work just like they did when I was 6! 28 years ago! But the Crayolas I bought last year don't work anymore. Wish you could still buy things that work!

I didn't have half of your toys but had the other half. Amazing how well marketing works!
