Doodle Stitching---I'm in love!

A huge thanks to Cassie over at You Go Girl for getting me hooked on these books.  They're SO easy to follow, they're exactly what I've been looking for, and who doesn't love hand-stitched cuteness?!!!

The idea is that you draw stuff and then turn it into hand-stitched amazingness.  You can either use your own doodles, or Aimee Ray has given you two entire books full of great images!  AND IT'S SO EASY.  I had no idea this would be so easy.  {And theraputic.}

This "Motif Collection" book even comes with a CD with all of these images!!! {gasp!}  This is all so truly exciting.

I'm currently working on something that has sat like this for a couple of weeks because I'm forever having something else more important to take care of.  As you know, I'm obsessed with trees and this little tree is going to be a seasonal sampler - four big sections for the four seasons.
Patience, my little project---someday you'll be amazing... I hope...

It's all so cute, I can't stand it.

This seasonal tree in the book was my inspiration for my own.  Of course, I couldn't do something small and simple like what's in the book.  No.  I have to go get a big, honkin' piece of fabric and work the crap out of it.  What if I totally hate it in the end?!  haha!  Well...at least I'm learning in the process!!!

It's all like candy to me.  LOVE the colors.

Oooh! I've followed some simple patterns for my stitchery and written up a couple, but these doodles look so fun! Definitely theraputic! Love the teee so far!

Your sampler looks amazing so far and you have a lot of work done already I think... I'm one who starts up stuff and then don't look at it again for years, so much worse than you are I'm sure! You also say it's so easy but aren't there a lot of different stitches??? All I did so far are crossstitches... I would LOVE to make a sampler like yours!
Looking forward to the progress!!!!
Bye,
Marian

Hey, Abby....Yay! I love to see another fellow doodle-er. Your work is lovely, lovely, lovely. Don't you just love the calm that comes over you when you stitch? I'm not sure what it is, but there is just something about it. So glad you caught the bug. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Xoxo...

You know, Aimee is doing a Stitch-a-Long right now. The info is over on Lark Press's site. There is even a Flickr group with people's projects!

I love your sampler and I must have those books. That looks like something I could actually manage! The threads look so yummy that I want to eat them for dessert! I am going to check these out right now!
Fondly,
Suz

So cute! I learned to embroider when I was about 9 years old. Once I learned cross-stitch, I never did any embroidery again. It's great to see that it is getting popular again. I need to refresh my skills and teach my 9yo daughter :-) Thanks for sharing about these!

Hi, I ordered the Scandanavian Needlecraft book that you featured on your blog awhile back. They suggested using dressmakers carbon to transfer the pattern...which I have found to be a pain because it easily rubs off. What do you suggest? jennyrshultz at yahoo dot com

Thanks, everyone! THIS IS SO EASY!!! If you know how to thread a needle, you can do this. If you were to just get a strip of fabric and practice the various stitches on it, you'll pick it up so quick.

...and my little tree waits and waits for me to pick it up...I've got waaay to many irons in the fire!!!
