Let's Have Some Fun...

Okay, so we might as well have a little fun, right?! On the sidebar of this blog is a poll list with little girl names that I sort of like. I don't like a whole lot of girl names, which makes this hard for me, but I DO have one favorite. Not that I will base my choice on what anybody thinks, but I'm curious...which one is YOUR fave?!

**I'm LOVING all of this great feedback!!!**

Poll isn't working for me either. It says "poll closed" at the bottom. Is there a way to unlock it on the site that made it???

My daughter is named Noelle and we call her Elle (like belly not bell) for short. I hope you get the poll up and working.

It's not working for me. Like Leigh Ann said, it says "Poll Closed" at the bottom.

They are all beautiful names. I'm partial to Grace and calling her Gracie of the bunch :)

Ok, my favorites from your list in order are:
Wynter
Brooke
Kate

CUTE!

My name is Erin. said...

Not working for me either... for all the same reasons listed above. I like the name Wynter... but I LOVE the idea of calling her Wynn. So cute! I also love Kate, but that's because I know some amazing Kates.

Love your nesting projects. So sweet. My daughter's name is Abrielle, like Gabrielle without the G, but she prefers to be called Abby J. I write about our adventures on The Gentle Giant. I'm new to your blog and loving it. Hope your pregnancy continues to go smoothly. Relax while you can. : )

My baby girl is named Avery, and I absolutely LOVE that name. And guess what? Her middle name is Brooke, so I guess you know which names I would vote for!

I love Kate. Have always love Katherine. I'm a sucker for names that can be shortened. Good luck picking one out.

Tiffany said...

I am with Avery! I love that name, but it wouldn't go with our last name!

ShellyStout said...

Oh I love Wynter!

Kate said...

although I do have to say that I love the name Kate (maybe I am biased, wink wink)
I do love the name Gracie, seems so sweet and simple just like every girl should be :)
Good luck!
ps, the poll thingy didn't work for me either.
pps, i love love your blog!

I like "Avery"...which one do you like? When is she due? Come say hi :D

Karli said...

I love Kate. It's simple, yet beautiful and will grow with a baby to womanhood.

Kristi said...

I like Wynter the best, then Kate. I always think that the name should sound 'adult' like b/c the child WILL grow up someday and will spend the majority of their life as an Adult!
Btw, it says poll closed as the previous posters mentioned. :-/

Poll not working here...but my daughter's name is Jayna so I like Jainey for yours! But I also like Avery!

Poll not working here either....but here's my two cents:

I have two girls, Delaney and Emory.

I love Brooke (which was a contender for Emory) then Wynter.

Can't wait to see what your favorite was!

I like Jainey, my daughters are Ansley, Miranda, and Ellana. Girls are great, good luck with the name!

I vote for Avery!

PS--I just had one of these polls on our blog to name our little boy. You will probably have to set up a new poll, making sure to set the ending poll date for a week out or however long you want it up. :)

Abby said...

I GOT IT TO WORK!!! The poll date was 2009 instead of 2010 - so NOW you can vote!!! But I love hearing your ideas and comments, too! So far I love ALL OF THE INPUT!!! I had no idea so many people would like Wynter - it's my #2 choice - but I'm sad because it doesn't go well with "Welker" - do you think? Wynter Welker? That would have to grow on me.

Keep the ideas coming, girls! I love it!!!

Jennifer said...

poll worked for me. My daughter's name is Kate, so that's what I picked, but I also really like Jainey

christa said...

I'm shocked that you don't have several more girl names...does this mean you have mostly boy names? I'd be curious so know those, I never have ANY boy names picked out...lucky for us we've had girls!

Melissa said...

I voted for jainey but I'll be honest and say I don't love the creative spelling... My oldest is jane and we called her janey as a baby. My other girls are Geneveieve (we call her Eve/Evie) and Lily Kate. :) Names are so fun to think about when the pressure isn't on! :)

Love Avery...my Dad's middle name ! Must. say they are all very cute though. Grandbaby #28, if a girl, in our family gets this darling name...

My only caution with a name like Wynter is that one day, your child will be learning to spell, and that's not a typical sound for a Y to make, nor the way you spell the season. Just something to think about-after working around 4 years olds trying to write their names, I'm afraid my kids will have the shortest, plainest names ever, just so they can spell them! I do love a strong, simple name, like Kate and Grace. Katherine Grace perhaps?

Cheryl @ a pretty cool life. said...

Brooke or Gracie...both on my list if we ever have a girl!

Lynaya said...

I like all the names. My favorite is Avery. I think that if you shorten Graci to Grace, it would make a very pretty middle name.

LucyH said...

I like Kate and Gracie. I think we are due about the same time and I am having a girl as well. Names are so hard for me, but we have a list of old fashioned names we are trying to rummage through. I am due beginning of february, so I am right there with ya! Good luck!
By the way I love the blog. I am from Safford, AZ...the Gila Valley too!

Vicky said...

Hi-love your blog! The names are ALL very pretty (I voted Gracie)
My daughter is called Elkie and lots of people comment on it. All the best.xxx

Trish said...

I like Avery the best - it also happens to be my late father's middle name, who was very dear to me. Second choice: Gracie. Or Brooke.

I love Kate!!!

I am working full-time again so I don't get to keep up with much but your blog is at the top of my list. Congrats on the new addition to your family. Now you will have someone new to model your bows!

Kate or Brooke.. Love em!

Amy Ragsdale said...

I like Kate and Avery, more so Avery. Please don't do Wynter, it's a bit too Utah-ish.

Lflinders said...

abby, I am partial to Kate because as you know my little girl is kaitlyn. She mostly goes by Kate though. I think it goes well with your last name too. I also like Jainey & gracie with your last name as well

momto2munkeys said...

wow, hard choice!!! My name is Katie, so I'm partial to Kate, when I had my daughter her name was gonna be Gracie, but we changed it to Abby at the last minute!!!!! So, I had to go with Gracie!!!!!

I LOVE Avery. One of my sons has a middle name of Avery. I also LOVE Destry, also a middle name of one of my boys. How about Avery Destry?

Best wishes and God bless you on your new arrival!

I picked Avery for obvious reasons, I have one of my own ;)

sadie, meredith, faye
different than what you have, just throwing them out there

I have a Grace Anne and we call her Gracie at home. We love the name and so does she and it is a name that works into adulthood. And if you name her Grace but call her Gracie, she always has the option of using the more sophisticated original name if she doesn't like Gracie. It's a beautiful, feminine name that has a bit of cute and fun to it too.

Heather said...

I also voted for Avery, because that's my peanut's name! Funny, when we chose it almost 4 years ago, there were no other Avery's, but it seems to have become quite popular. She is still the only Avery in her daycare of over 100 kids, and after being one of a dozen Heathers, I hope it stays that way. Her middle name is Olivia.

wow! i think i'm a bit different, i have 3 girls, Lakota (kota), Makayla (kayla) and Addison (addi), but here are some other names i just love; Macee, Harley, AddiLynn, LouLou, Lucie, Halie, but from your list i love AVERY!!! it was on my list when we had baby girl 2! good luck, girl names where my easiest, the boy names where our tough one!! ( we have a payton and boston!!!) Yes 5 kids!!

The stuff you're making for your baby is so cute, you're making me want another one!

I love the names Abby especially Gracie and Brooke. Our Gracie is actually Grace but gets called both and then our girl dog is Brooke.

Well... My name is Kate, I have a sister named Abbey and a daughter named Avery. Seems like we have a few things in common.

Hi, i'm seven months pergnant of my second girl named Adèle. For this baby (my third) I ask all my friend to give me the TOP 3 of their favorite names... it was so funny because I have a special RULE, only 5 letters!!! Finally, the one I choose wasn't in the list, it was already chosen in my heart and appears to be the good one.. so I can't wait to see my little LIVIA at the end of march... and for your special request... I think I love Wynter the most... I really love your little shoes and your blog in general!

jennie said...

I just found you blog today, and I loves:)

Baby names...who doesnt want to give their two cents, right? I have 3 kids-Summer, Teagen and Grady. I love the name Wynter. My Summer girl loves her season name and tells me all the time. The other names are all super cute, but be prepared because those are ALL terribly popular right now. I know babies born this past year with each of those names!

My daughters' names are Sarita and Sabine, but one we loved but didn't use is Marcella. In hind-sight, I do love the regal name of Marie Antoinette.

Doty Family said...

Okay, I voted for Jainey, I love that name. My little gal is named Piper, which I love, but here are few more random names for consideration:

Ansly, Kimala, Camilla, Taryn, oh I could go on and on with uncommon names. But there you go.

I would have to say i'm partial to Winter.
When my last child Erin was born, i told her older brother that he could give her a middle name.
I went into labour as it started to snow(we lived in New England at the time). My son chose the name Winter. i almost spelled it with a Y instead of i,but chose to keep it the way he intended it.

I adore the name Gracie, but as the owner of a business personalizing baby/children's items - there are a million of them!
I have a Jackson and a Lilly, so I know what it is like to have a name that is overly used!
I think Wynter is beautiful!

Hildie said...

I like Winter the best but not the spelling Wynter. As a Jennie (not a Jenny or a Jennifer. Thanks mom!) I always hated having a common sounding name that is spelled wrong. I have spent my life spelling out what should be regular straightforward name. Hate it!

Avery--boy has that name come out of nowhere! It's getting pretty popular. I don't know if you've ever been to babynamewizard.com, but they have great name popularity finders. You can see just how common/uncommon a name is.

My girls are named India, Arabella and Adelaide (nickname Ada). I get tons of compliments on their names. Obviously I go for the more unusual names.

I'm madly in love with your baby booties but all my friends are having boys! And I'm sure not having more.

P.S. I was born in raised in Michigan. Go Motor City!

Hildie said...

P.S. I also have that "I'm so crafty" as a bumper sticker on my car.

Love Kate and it goes with the 'K' THEME!!! (minus the R) I'm super excited for you Abbs!!!! Can't wait to meet the new little princess... Man, she's gonna be dressed to the NINES right from the start!!!!!

LuckyRedHen said...

I'm a stickler about names (especially spelling), so since you asked:

Janie...don't spell it Jainey, that's ridiculous :) Jane is too popular these days, but I love Janie (even as an adult)

Grace...so very popular, so I would recommend using it as a middle name; if you did use it as the first, you can nickname her Gracie but she could use the sophisticated "Grace" when she's older

Wynter...I actually like this spelling, even though I traditionally don't care for the wacky spelling changes; the Y gives it a feminine feel, but I does sound Wuh Wuh with your last name

Brooke...not as popular, so I like it for that reason

Kate...uber popular but sooo pretty

Avery...it's a paper company

Want recommendations? Fiona, Scarlett, Josephine (Joey, Josie), Emelianne
