MY GOODNESS! They've done it again and this time I'm going for it! The fine folks at Pottery Barn Kids have inspired me once again.I am OBSESSED with trees and all things tree related, so when I saw this piece of art, I just about gagged on my cold cereal this morning! I'm definitely going to be doing my own version of this tree and maybe even some flowers like those below.
It doesn't get any easier than this, ladies - some paint, blank canvas frames from JoAnn's, your favorite fabrics, and some adhesive. The color scheme possibilities are e
ndless! You could even do a "Family Tree" thing with this and write the names of your family members on the leaves. I probably won't do that, but it's a fun idea.Okay, so my ever-growing to-do-list just got bigger! Better get going!

ReplyDeleteGuess what, I got so excited I went out and bought canvases today! I'm going to do this for my bathroom, but I couldn't find fabrics that worked with my colors. I got great craft papers instead, but am now worrying about the moisture in the bathroom ruining it over time. What do you think? I don't know if I could mod podge a canvas without ruining the look. I guess I'm looking for some advice/consolation/something! HELP! I love this project so much. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! I was planning on using mod podge, which might change the matte canvas a little but you'll want to seal everything on there somehow. You could use a spray adhesive, too. Using paper probably wouldn't be a big deal if you're going to seal it with the mod podge - but I wouldn't do it any other way if you're going to go that route since bathrooms get so humid.

Problem solved for me: the scale was too large for the bathroom. So, I'm going to use it in another room (maybe my front entry way area?). But I'm glad to hear your thoughts on the mod podge -- that gives me a little consolation. You're right, there has to be some way to sort of seal the whole thing no matter what room you're doing...

ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of making the first one... using pieces of thin wood and painting it then putting on paper leaves and sealing it with something (?). Will that work anyone?! I don't want it to fall off! And the second picture is too cute too!! How would I make that one? Help! :)
